Police have released an opposition activist Sergey Udaltsov who was arrested on Thursday for an attempt to organize unsanctioned rally. He was obliged to appear in court on August 16. An action to support those prosecuted for the riots during an opposition rally in May took place near Investigative Committee building downtown Moscow.
Fifteen people were charged over the May riots, which saw more than 400 protesters detained by the police.
Under the new legislation, the fine for organizing unsanctioned actions can reach $1,000.
