Gazprom inks sponsorship deal with Abramovich’s Chelsea F.C.

Russian energy giant is set to provide English football club with gas and electricity

Chelsea F.C. owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich found a new sponsor. Gazprom became the club’s official global energy provider. Under the three-year deal Russian energy giant will supply the club with gas and power, and in exchange get access to the broad advertising opportunities.

Chelsea’s chief executive Ron Gourlay said it’s a “very exciting global partnership for the club”. According to Gazprom’s CEO in the UK, “the partnership with the European champions gives the company an outstanding platform to further raise profile across European and global markets”.

Last week Gazprom also confirmed an agreement with Union of European Football Associations to become an official partner of the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup for the next three seasons.
