Their commander, Solnechnikov, covered the grenade with his body before it exploded. He was rushed to hospital but doctors were unable to save him.Sergey Solnechnikov was buried with military honors in his home town of Volzhsky and was posthumously awarded the Hero of Russia, Russia's highest honor.
