MOSCOW, May 3 (ITAR-TASS) -- The second night rehearsal of the May 9 military parade on Moscow Red Square is in progress.
About 20,000 servicemen are taking part in the rehearsal, Army spokesman Lt. Col. Sergei Vlasov told Itar-Tass. An orchestra of 1,500 military musicians is playing for the parade participants.
"Servicemen are marching through the square at the moment. Some 106 military vehicles will come next," he said.
The parade will include Tiger armored vehicles, BTR-60 armored personnel carriers, tow trucks, Msta-S artillery launchers, Topol-M road-mobile missile launchers, eight S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile launchers, eight Pantsyr-S1 artillery and rocket launchers, Iskander-M missile launchers, Smerch multiple rocket launchers, Buk-M2 rocket launchers and other best military hardware of Russia, Vlasov said.
Traffic on dozens of Moscow streets, from Khodynka to the city center, was blocked on Tuesday evening for a rehearsal of the May 9 parade on Moscow's Red Square.
"Motor traffic, including that of public vehicles, will be limited from 6:00 p.m. through the end of the rehearsal along Khodynskoye Pole, Proyektiruyemyi Passages, Leningraskoye Highway, Pervaya Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street, Tverskaya Street and Manezh Square," a source at the city traffic police department told Itar-Tass.
It will be impossible to drive along Mokhovaya Street, Okhotny Ryad, Vasilyevsky Spusk, Moskvoretskaya and Kremlevskaya embankments, Sadovya-Kudrinskaya and Bolshaya Sadovaya Streets, Triumfalnaya Square, Kitaigorodsky Passage, Ilyinsky Spusk, Ilyinka and Varvarka Steets, Prechistenskaya embankment, the Bolshoi Moskovoretsky Bridge, Moskvoretskaya Steet, Bolotnaya Square, Bolotnaya Street, Podgorskaya embankment, Bernikovskaya embankment, Ustiyinskaya embankment, Kotelnicheskaya embankment, Yauzskaya and Solyanka Streets and Solyansky Passage.
The traffic limits in Moscow related to the May 9 parade rehearsals started in the evening hours of April 26. Apart from the May 3 and May 5 rehearsals, there will be traffic limits in the morning hours of May 7, the city traffic police department said.
The traffic limits in the evening hours start from 6:00 p.m. local time and last until the end of the rehearsals. The morning hour traffic limits will begin at 6:00 a.m., he said.
All is ready for May 9 parade rehearsals and the parade itself in Moscow, Vice-Mayor for Housing and Public Utilities Pyotr Biryukov said in the end of April.
He said that the city authorities would ensure the movement of military vehicles along Leningradskoye Highway and Tverskaya Street.
"Trolley contact wire has been lifted and underground crossings have been reinforced. About 300 vehicles will block the adjoining streets and about 400 sprinkling trucks will wash the streets after the rehearsals and the parade," he said.
The Moscow authorities will spend almost 102 million rubles on preparations for the May 9 parade on Red Square, chief of the city security coordinating department Valery Kadatsky said.
