US jury convicts Russian pilot of drug trafficking

NEW YORK, April 28 (ITAR-TASS) — Manhattan Federal Court in New York City has passed a guilty verdict on the Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko charged with a conspiracy for transporting a large consignment of narcotic drugs, a part of which was meant for sales in the U.S.

The sentence to Yaroshenko and his accomplices will be read out July 28.

In the meantime, lawyer Lee Ginsberg defending Yaroshenko said the defense plans filing an appeal over the verdict after the sentence is made public.

As he spoke to Itar-Tass, Ginsberg admitted however that this will be rather difficult to do, especially if one considers the fact the defenders will have to show that the judge's verdict contradicts the evidence, on the basis of which it was taken.
