CAIRO, July 2 (Itar-Tass) - The Egyptian army's ultimatum may cause confusion and undermine social stability, President Mohamed Mursi's office said in a statement issued overnight.
"The presidency confirms that it is going forward on its previously plotted path to promote comprehensive national reconciliation ... regardless of any statements that deepen divisions between citizens," the presidential office said.
The army's statement, made without consulting the president, may cause confusion in the ranks of the nation, the office noted.
Thus, the presidential office rejected the army command's ultimatum that gave 48 hours to the politicians to settle the crisis in the country.
The office was expected to respond to the army's statement on Monday evening, but the president's official spokesmen did not come out. The statement was issued several hours later.
