CAIRO, July 2 (Itar-Tass) - The Egyptian Interior Ministry has expressed its solidarity with the army in order to ensure order and security in the country.

The ministry said in a statement on Monday that police would not leave the people who had come out to express their will.

Police declared full solidarity with the people and pledged to continue to guard state property and ensure security for protesters.

At the same time, police noted they did not belong to any faction and did not intend to take anybody's side against another side.

The Interior Ministry confirmed police would not leave the people to the mercy of fate at the hard time for the country and would protect citizens, guard important facilities and ensure security.

According to some reports, there was pressure from the presidential office on Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim to take repressive measure against protesters and arrest some opposition leaders and reporters, but the minister flatly rejected such measures.
