Enteroviral infection in Lipetsk region subsiding - Rospotrebnadzor

The infection outbreak started from the town of Yelets

LIPETSK, June 30 (Itar-Tass) - The enteroviral infection in the Lipetsk region is subsiding. Seven persons with such diagnosis have been hospitalized in the past 24 hours, or much less than in the previous days, Nina Fatina, a deputy head of the regional administration of the Russian consumer rights protection authority (Rospotrebnadzor) told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

“The latest data proves that medics have curbed the infection,” she said. “Serious measures have been taken in the region to prevent the infection from spreading.”

In all, 251 people were diagnosed as heaving enteroviral diseases in the Lipetsk region in June. More than a half of them have been released from hospitals. As many as 88 people, mostly children, had developed serous meningitis as a complication. Nonetheless, “no serious cases were registered, the children are recovering,” she said.

The infection outbreak started from the town of Yelets.
