6 kg chlorine leak occurs at magnesium plant in Urals city

The chlorine emission occurred over a pipeline failure in one of the hangars

MOSCOW, June 28 (Itar-Tass) - A 6 kilogram chlorine gas emission was registered in a magnesium plant’s hangar in Solikamsk, Russia’s Urals, the Emergencies Ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday.

There were two people hurt in the incident, which were hospitalized and are receiving medical aid.

“The chlorine emission occurred over a pipeline failure in one of the hangars,” the source said.

“Currenly, the leak was eliminated,” the source said.

There is no threat for the population.

Ecologists are conducting environmental monitoring.
