Poland’s Orlen denies information on expanding cooperation with Rosneft

The company is not interested in selling Orlen Lietuva shares neither participating in the projects of fuel sale under the Rosneft brand

WARSAW, June 27. /ITAR-TASS reporter Irina Polina /. Polish fuel corporate group PKN Orlen has denied information published by Russian media concerning the expansion of cooperation with Rosneft. A statement released today reads that the mentioned plans to sell shares in the company or interests in other joint projects are not true.

As noted by Orlen, the media has listed “various alleged ongoing projects related to the recently signed contract with Rosneft on the purchase of crude oil for refineries in Poland /in February 2013/ and in the Czech Republic /in June of this year/.” “Contrary to these data, the conclusion of contracts for the supply of oil has never been caused by any obligations of the company in relation to Rosneft regarding joint projects or sale of any assets,” said the representative of the Polish group.

He said the company did not intend to sell shares of Orlen Lietuva and is not interested in participating in the projects of fuel sale in Belarus, Poland and Germany under the Rosneft brand. Also, there have been no negotiations on other contracts.

A similar statement was made today by the Polish Ministry of State Treasury, which owns a controlling stake in Orlen. “The emerged information about the expansion of cooperation between the companies Orlen and Rosneft is not true and doesn’t reflect the real plans of the Polish company and its major shareholder”, reported the department, recalling that in the last months the contacts between the two companies concerned only conclusion of termed contracts for the supply of oil refineries in Plock and in the Czech Republic.
