Rally in support of Khodorkovsky ends in Moscow

After the rally on Tverskaya, Khodorkovsky’s supporters headed for a walk on Arbat Street

MOSCOW, June 26 (Itar-Tass) - An opposition rally organized in support of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the imprisoned ex-YUKOS chief who is marking his 50th birthday these days, has ended on Tverskoi Boulevard downtown Moscow.

Dozens of people, including Vladimir Ryzhkov, the co-chairman of the Republican Party of Russia-People’s Freedom Party (RPR-PARNAS), and Sergei Mitrokhin, the leader of the Yabloko party, took part in the rally. Ryzhkov and Mitrokhin expressed admiration at Khodorkovsky’s courage and endurance.

The action passed without incidents. The protesters adopted a resolution demanding the immediate release of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Platon Lebedev, ‘the inmates of Bolotnaya Square’ and all political prisoners.

Police detained several opponents of Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
