Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani to be appointed Qatar prime minister

He will replace Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem al-Thani, which also occupies the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs

CAIRO, June 26. /ITAR-TASS /. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, currently Minister of Interior Affairs, will be appointed Prime Minister of Qatar, as reported today by Qatari satellite channel Al Jazeera.

He will replace Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem al-Thani, which also occupies the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The day before the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has officially announced the abdication of the monarch's throne after 18 years of rule in favor of his son - Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Sheikh Hamad is 61 years old, his son Sheikh Tamim is only 33. Rumors about the upcoming peaceful change of power in the emirate rich with oil and gas resources have been circulating for a long time.

As regional observers believe, with the change of the ruler of Qatar - the state, considered one of the main sponsors of the so-called Arab spring - one should not expect a major change in the policy of Doha in the international arena as well as in the field of energy and finance.
