ANKARA, June 25. /ITAR-TASS reporter Kirill Zharov /. Police of Ankara raided this morning 30 addresses of residence and whereabouts of persons who participated in the riots and clashes in Turkey. According to local TV, currently 20 people are detained, but searches are still conducted and their number may increase.
The operation is conducted by officers of the Anti-Terrorism Directorate of Security department. Many of the rioters are considered members of various organizations recognized as terrorist in Turkey. Grounds for detention may be recordings of CCTV cameras and footage transmitted by TV channels, where faces of extremists are visible.
It is claimed that the detentions are carried out only in respect of those persons who have caused damage to public and private property and clashed with police.
On June 18 of the Anti-Terrorism Directorate of Security department of Istanbul, Ankara and Eskisehir raided more than a hundred of addresses of residence of persons that supposedly provoked clashes. About 90 provokers were detained, among them – members of the underground Marxist-Leninist Communist Party. This party, which was founded in 1994, has been included in the list of major terrorist organizations operating in Turkey.
