International postal forum in St Petersburg to discuss current role of postal service

About 300 experts delegated by the General Postal Union and other organizations to take part

St PETERSBURG, June 25 (Itar-Tass) - A Pathway of Development for the Post is the motto of an international forum-exhibition Pochtovaya Troika 2013 /Mail-Carrying Troika 2013/ that opens in St Petersburg Tuesday.

Spokespeople for the organizing committee of the exhibition said discussions at the sessions and meetings will be devoted to the pressing issues of international cooperation in the situation of a dynamically developing sphere of telecommunications and a steep growth of the market of e-commerce.

The organizers say about 300 experts are expected to arrive in St Petersburg. They have been delegated by the General Postal Union, international postal service administrators, national operators, as well as the biggest companies in telecommunications, digital technologies, the financial/banking sector, and the transport/logistics business in Russia, former Soviet republics and foreign countries.

Global leaders of the market of Internet commerce, the expert community members, mass media representatives, executives of equipment manufacturing companies, researcher, and designers will also attend.

Participants in and guests of the forum will have an opportunity to see a display of technology achievements in the postal industry, an exposition of partner companies, and a number of philatelist collections.

Pochtovaya Troika is one of the major international events in the industry. It was first held in 1993.

Over the twenty years of its history, the forum has grown from a specialized conference for discussions over into a multirole floor for strategic planning of development of the global postal industry, and the formation of partnership relations.

The broad-format gathering of telecommunications experts, bankers, equipment manufacturers, and transport executives will be held June 25 and June 26.

Its organizers are the Pochta Rossii federal company, the Ministry of Mass Communications and Telecommunications, and the city administration of St. Petersburg.
