59 children still in hospital with enteroviral infection and meningitis in Rostov-on-Don

A total of 55 children have been diagnosed as having serous meningitis

ROSTOV-ON-DON, June 24 (Itar-Tass) - As many as 59 children are still in hospital with enteroviral infection and meningitis in Russia’s southern city of Rostov-on-Don, and 51 children have been discharged, a spokesman for the regional ministry of health told Itar-Tass on Monday.

According to the spokesman, three children have been hospitalized with symptoms of enterpviral infection over the past 24 hours.

“A total of 55 children have been diagnosed as having serous meningitis, of which 41 are still in hospital. Apart from that, 35 children have been hospitalized with symptoms of acute respiratory viral infection. As many as 38 children are receiving out-patient treatment. In all, in the period from June 3 to June 24, as many as 185 children have been impacted by the outbreak of enteroviral infection and meningitis,” the spokesman said.
