Patriarch Kirill, Lukashenko discuss preparations for 1025th anniversary of Baptism of Rus

The solemn festivities will take place in Minsk on July 29 and July 30

MOSCOW, June 24 (Itar-Tass) - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has met Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who is currently in Russia on a working visit, the patriarch’s press secretary, Deacon Alexander Volkov, told Itar-Tass.

“The meeting focused on preparations for the celebrations marking the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. The holiday will be broadly marked in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus on July 24-30,” Deacon Volkov said.

The solemn festivities will take place in Minsk on July 29 and July 30. The services will be also held in Moscow and Kiev.

“The festivities are expected to be attended by the clergy of the Local Orthodox Churches. The heads of state are planning to be involved in the celebrations,” the press secretary said.
