ST. PETERSBURG, June 21 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s oil major Rosneft does not rule out that a second line for the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be built on the Far Eastern island of Sakhalin, Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin told journalists on the sidelines of the Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday.

According to Sechin, the company has already reached agreements on the sale of liquefied natural gas produced at the plant’s first production line with a designed capacity of five million tons a year. On Friday, Rosneft signed an agreement with VITOL, to supplement its earlier agreements with SODECO and Marubeni.

So far, the demand for the Sakhalin-produced liquefied natural gas surpasses the existing deals, that is why Rosneft does not rule out that it might build another production line within the LNG plant project it is implementing jointly with U.S. Exxon. According to Sechin, among Rosneft’s potential partners in the new project are SODECO and Marubeni.
