Police finds attackers on boxing champion Rodion Pastukh

Pastukh was attacked by unidentified persons in the evening of June 19

YEKATERINBURG, June 20 (Itar-Tass) - The police have promptly established parties to a conflict with Russian cruiserweight champion Rodion Pastukh, a spokesman for the Sverdlovsk regional police department told Itar-Tass.

According to the spokesman, the police have established the whereabouts of some of those involved in the incident. Two of them are already confessing. Apart from that, two knives were seized from them.

“The probe into the conflict with boxing champion Rodion Pastukh continues and is under personal control of the Sverdlovsk police chief, Mikhail Borodin,” the spokesman said.

Pastukh was attacked by unidentified persons in the evening of June 19. According to preliminary information, the boxing champion received a call from a local television company. They asked him to give an interview on issues of patriotic education of the youth. They agreed a meeting place near the local martial arts academy. Pastukh reached the place by taxi to be met by a group of youngsters armed with knives.

“A quarrel between the boxing champion and the young men grew into a brawl. One of the attackers wounded Pastukh. The athlete hastily got into the taxi and reached the Kostya Dzyu boxing school, where an ambulance car was summoned,” the spokesman said.

Pastukh was taken to hospital, where he received necessary medial aid. He refused to be hospitalized. His health is out of danger.
