St PETERSBURG, June 20 (Itar-Tass) - International Energy Agency /IEA/ forecasts a feeble demand for natural gas in Europe over the coming few year and a simultaneous increase of the role of Russian gas in supplies to the European market, the agency’s Executive Director, Maria van der Hoeven told a news conference here Thursday.
She said that the demand for gas in the European countries will not return to the pre-crisis levels in the coming ten years even though the European economy is now getting back on track.
Van der Hoeven said that the imports of gas in Europe will increase in the medium term but largely due to the fall of production of energy resources in the European nations.
She admitted that the Europeans will be unable to subsist without Russian gas.
