Fire at testing range in Samara region put out

Fire fighters prevented the fire from spreading to the village of Nagorny

MOSCOW, June 19 (Itar-Tass) - The fire at a munitions testing range in the Samara region, Russia’s Middle Volga area, where shells exploded was put out, the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s information department, Oleg Voronov, told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

Fire fighters prevented the fire from spreading to the village of Nagorny, from where 6,500 were evacuated.

Voronov noted that drone surveillance detected two glowing fires. No explosions have been registered over the past 2 hours.

As a result of the accident 31 people were injured, nine of them were hospitalized, others received outpatient treatment.
