Organizers of St Petersburg Economic Forum recommending official dress style

Gentlemen will be expected to wear dark suits and women cocktail dresses at all the main cultural events

St PETERSBURG, June 19 (Itar-Tass) - Organizers of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum /SPIEF/ have drafted a memorandum that will prompt the participants in and guests of the conference how to ensure the most convenient conditions of work, traveling around the city and spending free time.

It is believed that transportation may pose one of the biggest problems during the forum.

“In connection with the peak of the tourist season in the period of twilight nights and the hosting of SPIEF, the intensity of traffic on city streets will go up,” a warning the organizers issued says.

In the light of it, they recommend a maximum use of the water transport services.

“A personal yacht may offer the best way of transits in the Neva River water area,” says a tip from the organizing committee. “The yacht will also emphasize your status at the forum.”

“To travel around St Petersburg or to travel by water routes, you can also rent a yacht,” the memo says. “Not only will you get a freedom of traveling. It will also furnish you with comfortable conditions for living, receptions and corporate events in the course of SPIEF.”

The organizers have also paid attention to the dressing code. “We would like to ask you to observe an official dressing style /wear formal suits/ on the central floor of the forum.”

“Gentlemen will be expected to wear dark suits and women cocktail dresses at all the main events of the cultural program,” the memo indicates.

Some restaurants will offer bonuses to the participants and a number of entertainment clubs will have free karaoke and glasses of champagne for the guests.

In a show of concern for the public image of the forum, the organizing committee has asked the city dwellers to refrain from marring the look of buildings located in front of the Lenexpo exhibition compound.

For instance, the district municipal agencies have asked the local residents to remove skis from the balconies and to refrain from hanging out the laundry there for the time being.
