BERLIN, June 17 (Itar-Tass) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel has come against weapons supplies to Syria, including to the opposition.

“Under no circumstance, we’ll take part in arms supplies to Syria,” Merkel told RTL on Monday.

The key goal should be to search for the political resolution of the conflict, the German chancellor said. “It is important to make the political process to work. Military means are impossible,” she added.

Merkel stressed that the G-8 summiteers should try to find ways to settle the Syrian conflict by peaceful means. At the same time, she said this task could not carry out without Russia.

“Russia vetoed many resolutions on Syria in the Security Council. Maybe, now we’ll be able to move forward on this issue,” the German chancellor noted.
