Navalny files documents to run in Moscow mayoral elections from RPR-PARNAS

MOSCOW, June 15 (Itar-Tass) - Alexei Navalny filed the documents in the Moscow City Election Commission on Saturday to run in the Moscow mayoral elections from the party RPR-PARNAS, the press service of the Moscow City Election Commission told Itar-Tass.

Last Friday Navalny was officially named as a candidate from the opposition party RPR-PARNAS at the Moscow mayoral elections. Navalny gained 88 from 98 votes in a secret ballot at a party meeting of the Moscow city branch of RPR-PARNAS. Meanwhile, he is not a member of the party.

Navalny is the sixth candidate for Moscow mayor, as the application of the documents by the candidates began on June 11. Deputy general director of the limited liability company Kalita-Finans Igor Suzdaltsev, 50, became the first candidate, who filed the documents in the Moscow City Election Commission. Along with him rock singer Sergei Troitsky nicknamed Spider, leader of the party Volya Svetlana Peunova, general director of the Moscow company Ivan Karpushkin, 33, and unemployed citizen Alexei Denisov, 30, already filed their documents in the Moscow City Election Commission.

The early direct Moscow mayoral elections will be held on September 8. These elections will be the first mayoral elections for the last ten years.
