ANKARA, June 15 (Itar-Tass) - The Turkish police will take a decision over Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko, who was detained on the Taksim Square on Friday, Consul of the Russian General Consulate Nikolai Kuzovenko told Itar-Tass on Saturday.
“Babchenko is still being kept in the police. Official accusations were not brought against him yet. His health condition is satisfactory, he has no serious injuries. Our consular employees are keeping in constant contact with the authorities, the food and water are provided to the journalist,” he said.
Babchenko was detained by the policemen in mufti when taking pictures of the police cars on the square. He can be charged with the resistance in the detention. According to available reports, the doctor has found a hematoma and an injury of the right leg in the journalist during the medical examination, but these injuries did not require an urgent medical interference.
