First batch of Georgian wine delivered to Russia after interval of 7 years

TBILISI, June 15 (Itar-Tass) - The Georgian wine exports in Russia was resumed for the first time after 2006. The first wine batch of 30,000 bottles crossed the Georgian-Russian border on Saturday.

The wines, which are produced by the company Dugladzeebis Gvinis Company (the wine company Dugladze), which along with other companies was granted the right for the wine exports in Russia, will be delivered in Moscow on June 16. In the course of June the Georgian wine company will supply 500,000 bottles of wine and cognac to Russia.

The first batch of Georgian cognac of 21,000 bottles of the company Kakhetis Traditsiuli Megvineoba (the traditional winemaking Kakheti) will be delivered to Moscow on Saturday. The company intends to deliver a total of 130,000 bottles of cognac and wine to Russia.

Various Georgian enterprises, which produce alcoholic drinks, will export about ten million bottles of wine and cognac to Russia in 2013.

In February-April 2013 the specialists of the Russian consumer rights watchdog visited Georgia several times and examined the work of the enterprises producing the wines, cognacs and mineral water, after that 69 companies were granted the right to export their produce to Russia.
