LONDON, June 14. /ITAR-TASS reporter Vladimir Kalinin/. Court in the UK has announced the verdict on one of high-profiled criminal cases of recent years in Britain. The Royal Court of Preston in North-West England considered the blame of 30-year-old Dale Cregan in the murder of two female police officers proven, and now the offender will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
On one of the preliminary hearings Cregan has already confessed in killing four people. On May 25th, 2012 in the eastern part of Manchester he shot 23-year-old Mark Short. Then the offender was arrested, but almost immediately released on bail. This was a mistake of the investigation, since in August of the same year he killed 46-year-old father of Mark Short, David Short.
For any information on the whereabouts of Cregan was declared a reward of 50,000 pounds /$81,000/, however, the murderer was not found. On September 18 criminal called up the police to a private home in the eastern part of Manchester, reporting a supposed burglary. On false alarm arrived 32-year-old Fiona Bone and 23-year-old Nicola Hughes, which, as most of the police officers, had no firearms.
As soon as they stepped out of the police car, Cregan threw towards them a grenade and brought down fire with a pistol. Bone died at the scene and her mate died from wounds in the hospital. Shortly thereafter the man came to a police station and declared that he has commitet that murder.
This is the first case in Britain's history when tho female police officers have died in the preformance of duty. The incident has shocked the british society and opened a new round of discussions on the right of all british police officers to carry firearms.
Aside Cregan, five of his accomplices in the first two murders have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms .
