MOSCOW, June 13 (Itar-Tass) - Leader of the Civic Platform party Mikhail Prokhorov is against gay parades, but in his opinion, the bill, adopted by the State Duma which bans the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations, contravenes the internationally acknowledged norms.
"My position is very simple: I think that sex and parades are two different things; therefore, I have a negative attitude both to heterosexual parades and other similar parades," Prokhorov said at a press conference on Thursday.
"It is one's personal affair to decide whom and how to sleep with," Prokhorov said.
"As far as the controversial bill is concerned, obviously it contravenes the Convention Russia signed with the other countries," Prokhorov said.
On June 11 the State Duma adopted a bill which bans the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among adolescents. The bill bans the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among the adolescents in the form of circulating information aimed at the formation of non-traditional sexual views among the adolescents. The bill envisages fines worth up to one million roubles charged for its violation.
