Moscow would be calmest city without migrants' crimes - mayor Sergei Sobyanin

According to Sobyanin, the city authorities "push" federal colleagues to take more stringent measures against illegals

MOSCOW, June 13 (Itar-Tass) - There are 300,000 illegal migrants in Moscow, and the capital would be the most law-abiding city if it were not for crimes committed by visitors, Acting Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in an interview published in the Izvestia daily on Thursday.

According to him, the city authorities "push" federal colleagues to take more stringent measures against illegals. "There are about 300,000 illegal migrants in the city. Without crimes committed by those who arrive, Moscow will be the most law-abiding city in the world," Sobyanin believes.

The authorities are categorically against those who do not register. Such persons must be evicted from the city. It must be a reason to ban entry to Russia, he said.

"The second stage is entry only with foreign passports. It is a pity that it is postponed till 2015. Most likely, it is a request of some former Soviet republics," the acting mayor supposes.
