PRETORIA, June 13. /ITAR-TASS reporter Alexander Nechaev/ The health condition of ex-president of RSA Nelson Mandela, which is in a hospital in Pretoria diagnosed with recurrent pulmonary infection, shows a slight improvement. 94-year old national hero of struggle against apartheid began to react favorably to treatment, said the president of RSA Jacob Zuma.

"I'm glad to announce that Mandela started to react positively to treatment. I'm happy with this progress", he stated while speaking to the parliament on Wednesday.

The patient in the intensive care unit was visited by his grandchildren Mandla and Ndaba, as well as his elder daughter Zenani, the ambassador of South Africa in Argentina. In the chamber with Mandela constantly stays his wife Graca Machel.

Since December 2012 the former president goes through hospital treatment the fourth time due to problems with lungs. During the 27-year long imprisonment under apartheid, he suffered from tuberculosis. The ex-head of RSA that on July 18th should turn 95 the last time appered in public in 2010: he watched from the stands the final match of the World Cup in South Africa.
