MOSCOW, June 12 (Itar-Tass) - Acting Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Wednesday he will take part in the mayoral race as a self-nominated candidate.
He noted that “it is the easiest way” to be nominated by the party.
“But it is necessary to take the most difficult road obtaining support from voters,” Sobyanin told a meeting with WWII veterans in Moscow’s Yekaterininsky Park.
Sobyanin will have to collect over 70,000 signatures of voters to be registered as candidate in Moscow’s early mayoral elections due on September 8.
