Iran gets invitation to take part in conference on Syria

“The conference will be successful, if all countries of influence will be able to take part,” Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Abdollahian said

MOSCOW, June 11 (Itar-Tass) - Iran has received an invitation to take part in a conference on Syria, Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Abdollahian told a news conference in Moscow on Tuesday.

“The conference will be successful, if all countries of influence will be able to take part,” he said. “Iran received a verbal invitation to attend a future conference on Syria ten days ago.”

Teheran welcomes the idea of holding such a meeting in Geneva,” the senior diplomat said.

“The conference in Geneva is to create pre-requisites for ending the crisis,” he said. “Iran will positively keep track of the issue of its participation in Geneva, despite controversial information about our participation.”
