Belgorod shooter found sane by experts

MOSCOW, June 7 (Itar-Tass) - Sergei Pomazun who is charged with killing six people in Belgorod has been found sane, spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee (SK) Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass.

“More than 50 expert examinations are to be conducted within the framework of the criminal case investigation, including genetic, trace evidence, forensic, medical, ballistic, biological, and several others. Sergei Pomazun has undergone a complex outpatient forensic psychiatric and psychological expert examination, on the results of which he was found sane,” said the SK spokesman.

On April 22, Sergei Pomazun, who was dubbed by the media “Belgorod shooter,” stole his father’s gun and BMW X5 and came to the gun store “Okhota” (“Hunting”) in the centre of the city, in order to steal weapons, the investigators believe. In the store he fired at two sales assistants and a visitor. After that, stealing weapons Pomazun came out of the store and shot three other people who were walking by.

During the detention Pomazun injured a police officer with a knife.

The criminal investigation is underway.
