MOSCOW, June 7 (Itar-Tass) - Further support for Syria’s armed opposition is the road to nowhere, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday after the talks with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.
“All of us should realize whether we want to support the political process and then we should make everybody to sit at the negotiating table or we want regime change,” he said.
“We express concern over the statements made by the so-called Free Syrian Army and by U.S. officials that the support for Syria’s armed opposition will be continued to restore the military balance on the ground,” Lavrov said.
“This is the road to nowhere, this is continuation of a vicious circle of violence,” he said.
