Prosecutor’s office conducts inquiry in death of teenager at detention centre in Tuva

KYZYL, June 6 (Itar-Tass) - The Tuva Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an inquiry in the death of a 15-year-old teenager at the detention centre, the press service of the republican prosecutor’s office told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

The arrested teenager was found dead in the evening on Wednesday, June 5, in a ward of the detention centre number one in Tuva, the prosecutor’s office said.

The senior aide of the Tuva prosecutor over the supervision for the observance of the laws in the administering of the verdicts for criminal offences arrived at the incident site. The preliminary inquiry showed that the teenager died of suffocation, the prosecutor’s office added.

The prosecutor’s office explained that the teenager from the village Toora-Khema in the Todzha district was detained on May 30 on the suspicion of murder. On the next day the court ruled to put him in arrest, the accusation was brought against him for murder under Article 105 Part 1 of the Russian Criminal Code on June 1.
