Around 11,000 illegal migrants deported from Russia in Jan-May

MOSCOW, June 6 (Itar-Tass) - Around 11,000 illegal migrants have been deported from Russia for five months, the press service of the Federal Migration Service told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

Fines for migration law violations exceeded 21 million roubles, the press service said.

There are almost 1.8 million migrant workers, who have work permits in Russia. Of them 23,500 are registered as skilled and highly skilled staff.

“From the beginning of the year the Federal Migration Service held over 290,000 activities to detect violations in the migration legislation. Over 853,000 migrants were brought to administrative responsibility and 10,986 foreign workers were deported from Russia for grave violations,” the press service said.

The Federal Migration Service issues 71,000 temporary residence permits, 40,000 residence permits and 42,000 citizenships.

Over 10,000 people arrived in Russia under the state programme for resettlement of compatriots.
