OSTOV-ON-DON, June 6 (Itar-Tass) - The number of children, who got infected in the kindergarten Teremok in Rostov-on-Don, reached 78. 28 of them were hospitalized, nine of them were diagnosed with acute meningitis, six children were brought to the intensive therapy ward. Other 50 children developed a light form of disease and are being kept at home under the supervision of physicians, health minister of the Rostov Region Tatiana Bykovskaya told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
“This figure is most likely not final,” she added.
All 250 inmates of the kindergarten Teremok were examined by the doctors, they are undergoing the anti-virus therapy.
The outbreak of the acute respiratory infection occurred at this kindergarten on June 5. According to the regional health ministry, the children were hospitalized with the diagnosis - acute respiratory infection, acute purulent meningocephalitis and acute purulent meningitis. One child died at the age of three years despite the treatment.
The virologists of children’s infections are arriving from St. Petersburg to Rostov-on-Don on Thursday.
There is no panic, the parents are helping to the medical workers, Bykovskaya said.
