MOSCOW, June 5 (Itar-Tass) - The lawyer of Makhachkala mayor Said Amirov lodged an appeal against his arrest at the Moscow City Court on Wednesday. Amirov is accused of masterminding the murder of an Investigative Committee employee.

"We took the appeal to the Moscow City Court on Wednesday morning," lawyer Mark Kruter told Itar-Tass.

The lawyer pointed out at the inadmissibility of keeping Amirov under arrest stating that his health was in grave condition. "Amirov survived 15 assassination attempts: the person is immobile, he lacks both feet, he cannot take care of himself. The person has been slandered," Kruter said.

Under procedural norms, the appeal will be passed for review to the Court’s appeals board.

The SK main office charged Said Amirov, Magomed Abdulgalimov and Yusup Dzhaparov under Article 295 /attempted murder of person conducting preliminary investigation, including masterminding and abetting/ and Article 222, Part 1 of Russia's penal code /illegal turnover of weapons/ in the criminal case over the murder of SK investigator Lt-Col Arsen Gadzhibekov.

The SK also ascertained the involvement of Magomed Abdulgalimov and Magomed Akhmedov in the assassination attempt on the life of Dagestan prosecutor Natalia Mamedkerimova in 2011.

Amirov ordered to murder investigator Gadzhibekov, aide to Kizlyar prosecutor Magomed Abdulgalimov masterminded the crime, and deputy Kaspiisk mayor Yusup Dzhaparov and investigator from Makhachkala's Kirov district Magomed Akhemedov abetted, the SK reported.

Eleven persons have been arrested within the criminal case. Investigators do not rule out that more suspects will appear in the course of the probe.
