KIEV, June 4 (Itar-Tass) - Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich said on Tuesday the memorandum on closer cooperation between Ukraine and the Eurasian Economic Commission that was signed on May 31 would encourage economic growth in the country.
He said he would not “like us to scare ourselves with what we are signing.” “Ukraine and the Customs Union member states have a considerable potential for cooperation, and this potential should be used to ensure economic growth in the country,” Yanukovich stressed.
On May 31, Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov and chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko signed a memorandum on closer cooperation. According to Azarov, the memorandum will help Ukraine establish closer cooperation with the Customs Union member countries. Thus, Ukraine will have an opportunity at the preliminary stage to be notified of resolutions that the Customs Union countries plan to adopt.
