MOSCOW, June 4 (Itar-Tass) - Spokesman for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said he has no information about a possible resignation of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
"I can't say anything. This question should be addressed to Sobyanin, because it's absolutely his decision," Peskov told the Ekho Moskvy radio station on Tuesday.
In reply to a question about a possible meeting between Vladimir Putin and Sobyanin, which, according to some media reports, can be held on June 5, Peskov noted that he “does not ever announce working meetings of the president.” “If such meeting is held, we will inform you properly,” the presidential spokesman said.
He noted that now “the president is staying in Yekaterinburg, where he will have negotiations with the high-ranking officials of the European Union in next few hours.”
According to some media reports made public on Tuesday morning, the Moscow mayoral elections may be held already on September 8, if Sobyanin resigns ahead of time. However, this news report was not officially confirmed yet.
