MOSCOW, May 31 (Itar-Tass) - The Syrian settlement will be among the focal points at the Russia-EU summit in Yekaterinburg on June 3 to 4, Russian president’s aide Yuri Ushakov said on Friday.

“Pressing international problems will be touched upon, naturally with an accent on Syria. Syria is likely to have the lion’s share of the time,” he said.

Ushakov even supposed that a long discussion of the situation in that Arab republic may push to the background some other issues that will not fit within the time limit.

If the European side once again brings up the issue of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s resignation, Russian President Vladimir Putin “will naturally voice our stance,” he added.

“This is what the talks are for - to discuss most difficult, most sensitive issues,” the Kremlin aide said. “We have our own position on that: the Syrian population itself must settle this issue,” he emphasized.
