PYONGYANG, May 28 (Itar-Tass) -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has issued an instruction to increase the production of sea foods. He made out this order while visiting a fishery base of the Korean People’s Army on the eastern coast of the country.
Kim Jong-un, who is the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, went aboard one of the fishery ships to examine the engine room, the Korean Central News Agency said.
He asked his escort about the amount of fuel consumed by the engine and specified the task of the base, which is to supply the servicemen the Korean People’s Army with fish all year round in the conditions where they are on permanent combat alert.
Each ship assigned to the base should build up the annual catch of fish to 1,000 tons, Kim said.
He also spoke in favor of developing the aquaculture in North Korea on a scientific basis and called attention of the accompanying officials to an amassed growing of food-grade seaweed and scallops.
Prior to his visit to the army fishery base, Kim Jong-un inspected the operations of a foodstuff factory located on the army base No. 534, also on the eastern coast, which produces foodstuffs for the Armed Forces.
The civilian personnel working there “stands in one row with the Korean servicemen who are safeguarding socialism in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” he said
To give an incentive to the factory’s labor staff, he was photographed together with some of the factory workers.
