BEIJING, May 27 (Itar-Tass) - The strengthening of comprehensive cooperation with China is Russia’s foreign policy priority, State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin said at the meeting with the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Zhang Dejiang, on Monday.

Naryshkin noted that Russia highly appreciated relations with China considering them “a bright and convincing example of truly strategic partnership that yields results and has an influence on raising the standards of living” in the two countries.

“The further strengthening of comprehensive cooperation between Russia and China is Russia’s absolute foreign policy priority,” he said.

Naryshkin drew attention to the fact that during its visit to China the State Duma delegation included representatives of all four factions in the lower house of parliament.

This proves that Russian parliamentarians are unanimous in their opinion that “stronger friendship and cooperation with China are our priority,” he said.

Zhang said in turn that Chinese President Xi Jinping “attaches great importance to the development of interparliamentary cooperation between China and Russia.”

“I am confident that your visit will give a strong impetus to further development of friendly contacts between the two countries and their parliaments,” he said.
