Syrian Free Army dissociates itself from militants’ threats to Lebanon

He said that FSA "condemns a terrorist sortie on the southern outskirts of Beirut” organized by the irreconcilables"

BEIRUT, May 26 (Itar-Tass) - Free Syrian army on Sunday reiterated its commitment to stability, security and sovereignty of Lebanon, the Army’s press secretary.

The Army’s chief press officer Fahad al-Masri vehemently dissociated his organization from the threats against neighboring Lebanon that were made public earlier by field commanders of rebel units.

He said in an interview with the MTV channel that FSA “condemns a terrorist sortie on the southern outskirts of Beirut” organized by the irreconcilables.”

Al-Masri dismissed as ‘irresponsible’ the claims by Captain al-Wawi, who positions himself as the press secretary of the Free Syrian Army and who said the Syrian oppositionists “will spread the blaze of this conflict to Lebanon from Syria.”

He demanded that the Shiite grouping Hezblollah stop interference in El Quseir and threatened with “new powerful attacks in Beirut and Tripoli.”

Captain Al-Wawi said the list of possible targets for attacks might include the Rafiq Hariri International Airport located on the outskirts of Beirut.

Al-Wawi claimed that Iran airlifts weaponry and munitions to Hezbollah.
