Local resident injured in fistfight with police cadet dies in hospital in Astrakhan region

ASTRAKHAN, May 26 (Itar-Tass) - A local resident, who has got an injury and fell in coma after a fist strike in a brawl with a cadet of the Volgograd Academy of the Russian Interior Ministry, died at the central district hospital in the town Akhtubinsk, the Astrakhan Region, on Sunday.

Cadet of the second year of the Volgograd Academy Kamil Alekperov is being kept in the detention centre in the town Znamensk, representative of the investigation department of the Russian Investigative Committee in the Astrakhan Region Andrei Khegai told Itar-Tass on Sunday. On Monday, he will be charged under an article of the Russian Criminal Code for premeditated heavy damage to the health that entailed the death of the injured party.

“If the guilt of the detainee is proved in the court, he faces up to 15 years in prison,” Khegai noted.

The detectives found that overnight to May 19 a conflict flared up between two young people that grew in a brawl at the cafe Merkuriy in the town Znamensk in the Astrakhan Region. Cadet of the Volgograd Academy of the Russian Interior Ministry Alekperov inflicted a head injury to a 23-year-old local resident. The injured man was brought to the central city hospital with a closed cranial injury, a cranial fracture and fell in coma. Later he was brought from Znamensk in the district hospital in Akhtubinsk, where he died overnight to Sunday.

The Russian Interior Ministry earlier reported that the cadet was the master of sport and the Russian champion in hand-to-hand fighting. The ministry noted that cadet of the second year of the faculty of detectives of the Volgograd Academy of the Russian Interior Ministry, private of police Kamil Alekperov was on the leisure time after the studies in Znamensk.

The Volgograd Academy of the Interior Ministry explained that this educational institution continues a service inquiry, upon the results of which the direct chiefs of the cadet will be held responsible and the measures of disciplinary influence will be taken up to the dismissal from the police. Cadet Alekperov is not expelled from the academy yet.
