KURCHATOV (Kursk region), May 26 (Itar-Tass) - The first turbine generator of the first power unit at the Kursk nuclear power plant was disconnected due to a short circuit in order to measure the voltage transformer, the public relations centre of the Kursk nuclear power plant told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
“The first turbine generator of the first power unit of the nuclear power plant was disconnected at 09:22 Moscow time on May 26 due to the activation of the automatic protection system,” the public relations centre said.
The first power unit is unloaded by 50% now, the voltage transformer is being replaced, the public relations centre said.
First, third and fourth power units are operational. These power units operate at the capacity set in the working schedule. The second power unit is under scheduled repairs.
The radiation level at the nuclear power plant and the adjacent territory is within the norm, the public relations centre reported.
