MOSCOW, May 23 (Itar-Tass) - Tornado that dashed Wednesday afternoon through the town Yefremov in the Tula region, some 300 km to the south of Moscow, damaged more than a thousand multi-apartment residential blocks, a spokesperson for the regional department of the Ministry for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense /EMERCOM/ told Itar-Tass.
“As a result of the tornado, damage was inflicted on 1,100 multi-apartment blocks and 167 private households,” he said. “A total of 238 applications for assistance have been submitted to the regional government by residents.
Governor Vladimir Gruzdev signed a resolution on assistance to the citizens affected by tornado in the town of Yefremov.
In line with the resolution, the individuals whose bodily health was damaged in connection with the hurricane will be paid 25,000 rubles each /USD 1=RUB 31.2/.
Also, 50,000 rubles will be paid out for repairing a residential apartment and up to 100,000 rubles, for repairing a private household.
The monies will be allocated from the reserve fund of the Tula region government.
Regional administration officials say twenty-two persons requested medical assistance in the wake of the tornado and one of them was hospitalized.
