MOSCOW, May 23 (Itar-Tass) - The searches are underway among the top managers of the Mirax Company over a massive embezzlement case of about five billion roubles from the depositors in the construction of the housing complex Kutuzovskaya Milya, a source in the Moscow law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
“The searches began at 06:15 Moscow time on Thursday and continue up to now at least at eight residence places in the cottages of the former top managers. The investigating measures are underway within a criminal case, which the Investigation Department of the Russian Interior Ministry opened over the embezzlement of about five billion roubles from the depositors of the shared construction of the housing complex Kutuzovskaya Milya,” the source said.
The searches are being made with the force support of about 100 SOBR police commandoes.
The Interior Ministry earlier reported that, according to the version of the detectives, unidentified employees of the company initiated the conclusion of the preliminary purchase-sale contracts of the flats of the housing complex Kutuzovskaya Milya that deliberately do not correspond to the approved design documentation in 2007-2008.
The police reported that the contracts were concluded between the buyers and a company subordinate to Mirax Group. This company acts as a co-investor in the investment contract between the Moscow Government and the constructor.
Receiving about 5-6 billion roubles from people, the company mothballed the construction of a residential block, not fulfilling the liabilities under the contracts. After that the directorate of the company has taken the actions aimed at premeditated bankruptcy and liquidation.
Businessman Sergei Polonsky is the head of one of the largest development companies Mirax Group. Since December 1, 2011, the company was renamed in Potok8.
