MOSCOW, May 22 (Itar-Tass) - A warlord from a gang, which is involved in the attacks on policemen and the attempts on the life of spiritual leaders in the North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan, was destroyed in the republic, the information centre of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAK) told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
Overnight to May 22 in the Gubden district of Dagestan the Federal Security Service and the Interior Ministry have carried out the search operation to find and suppress the activities of members of the gangs and their accomplices. The group of armed bandits was spotted in the forest three kilometres northwest of the village Gubden. During the shootout one of them was destroyed, the chase for other gunmen continues.
“The detectives preliminarily found that the destroyed bandit is identified as Magomed Abusaidov, born in 1989. At the place of clash two pistols, a submachine gun, a grenade launcher and a homemade explosive device were found. According to the operations headquarters, Abusaidov was a warlord of the so-called Gubden gang. The detectives found that he engaged in criminal activities together with his brother and father in June 2011 and after the destruction of the warlord he headed the gang,” NAK reported.
“Abusaidov committed the attacks on permanent and mobile posts of the law enforcement agencies, including the blasting and shooting at the convoy of the Perm OMON riot police formation in 2012. He participated in an armed attack on an employee of the pension service and the robbery of about one million roubles, which were meant for pension payments to his fellow villagers. He is directly involved in several attempts on life and murders of local residents and spiritual leaders of the republic, including Magomed Biarslanov, an authoritative religious activist, who condemned openly the religious extremist movements,” NAK noted.
No wounded people were reported among civilians and law enforcers.
