Commander of OMON riot police platoon detained on suspicion of abetting to gunmen in Dagestan.

A service inquiry is being conducted in this criminal case

MOSCOW, May 19 (Itar-Tass) - Commander of the OMON riot police platoon in Dagestan was detained on suspicion of abetting to gunmen, the Russian Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

“On May 18, in Makhachkala the officers of the Dagestani centre for counteraction to extremism detained a 37-year-old lieutenant of police and the commander of the operative platoon of the OMON riot police of the Russian Interior Ministry’s transport department in the North Caucasus Federal District with the deployment in Makhachkala within the criminal case opened before,” the Interior Ministry stated.

A service inquiry is being conducted in this criminal case, the offender was relieved from the post. Upon the results of the inquiry those guilty and their chiefs can be brought to disciplinary responsibility up to the dismissal from the police.
