SOCHI, May 18 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has explained to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon Russia’s attitude to ways of settling the Syrian crisis, presidential press-secretary Dmitry Peskov told the media on Friday.
“There was a detailed exchange of opinion and full and detailed review of key aspects of international relations,” Peskov said. “The Syrian settlement-related problems were discussed in detail.”
Putin briefed Ban Ki-Moon on his contacts with British Prime Minister David Cameron, Egypt’s President Mohamed Morsi, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and South African President Jacob Zuma.
“Putin explained Russia’s position on Syria,” Peskov said.
Putin and Ban Ki-Moon exchanged opinion on the situation in the Korean peninsula and the state of affairs in international relations.
“Both sides pointed out that all peace-making efforts and the settlement of conflict situations must be based on international law and there could be no alternative to that,” Peskov said.
